The practice offers a nurse-led travel advice and immunisation service for patients planning to travel abroad. As part of this service, your vaccination history will be reviewed and advice provided in line with current guidance.
To access this service, patients must complete a Travel Questionnaire and return it to reception at least 8 weeks before the intended travel date. This timeframe is essential to allow for clinical review, vaccine ordering, appointment availability, and time for the body to develop effective immunity. Some vaccines may also require more than one dose.
Once the questionnaire has been received, a nurse will contact the patient to discuss travel plans, confirm whether any vaccinations are required, and arrange appointments where appropriate. Please note that travel vaccinations cannot be provided at short notice.
The practice is only able to provide vaccinations that are available through the NHS. Some travel vaccines are not NHS-funded and may involve a charge or require attendance at a private travel vaccination clinic. The nurse will advise patients accordingly.
Vaccinations available on the NHS at no charge include:
- Typhoid
- Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (Revaxis)
- Hepatitis A
- Cholera (oral vaccine – two doses)
